Biography of Motorama

Phonebox

Motorama is a Chilean band of funk/rock created in 2006 by Cristian Mundaca Estay (Guitar, keyboards, synthesizers and voice), Juan Riquelme Alee (Drums, percussion and choirs) and Nicolás Mundaca Mundaca (bass, keyboards and choirs). In 2007, the band launched its first work under the name “Demorama EP”, which had two songs: “Cerca de ti” and “Recuerdo”. Between 2007 and 2008, the band started a series of shows in Santiago and other cities where they shared the stage with bands such as Chancho en Piedra, Zaturno, Funkattack, Boomer, Los Shamanes, The Saloon, La Sonora Palacios”, “SIA”, “Garras de amor”, “Guachupe” and “La Sonora Tomo como Rey”.

In July of 2008, Ctrl+Z magazine highlighted Motorama as “The new promise of Chilean funk” and the radio “San Bernardo Rock” transmitted the band's live presentation in their studies. Nevertheless, one of the most important achievements of the band during 2008 was the inclusion of the song “Cerca de Ti" in the disc “Emerging Bands” of The Youth National Institute (INJUV).

At the end of 2008, Motorama was included in the top 10 of the best bands of the “Festival de Bandas Juventud Providencia” with the song “Funk de las rubias”, performing this song in the Circus Ok Theater.

In early 2009, Motorama recruited the sound engineer Ricardo Callealta to record its first disc, which was recorded and mixed between May and September at Sonido Arte Studio. The disc was named Suban el Volumen.

In 2010 the band decided to stop for an undetermined time.
